Understand Your Purpose in Life
A subtitle to this lesson could be How to decide what you want to do.
We all have amazing talents and unique gifts to give to the world. There is no one else that can make your special offer. These are the talents and things that you can do that no one else is capable of doing quite the way that you can do them.
Each and every one of us has a purpose, a reason for living and breathing and existing. The single most important thing we can do in life is to understand what that purpose is and how we can use it to benefit all of humanity. I would go as far as saying that we owe it to the universe, ourselves, others, the future and your legacy. You should think about becoming significant and to think big and serve big.
A man by the name of Tom Harken was born with polio and tuberculosis. He spent the first six years of his life in an iron lung. The first day that he started school, the teacher told him to go to the board and spell cat. What he wrote was K – A – T.
The teacher told him in front of the whole class that he would never become successful. So what did he do but drop out of school as he was humiliated and disappointed in himself. What Tom decided to do was to prove them wrong.
After he became old enough he went out and started selling vacuum cleaners. He sold 17 a day. He memorized all the information each customer gave to him because he never did learn how to read.
In fact, he never told anyone he was illiterate until the age of 55. He actually announced it with tears in his eyes to an astonished and surprised audience while he was being honored at the Horatio Alger awards.
Within a year he had learned how to read and now crusades to eradicate the slavery called the literacy.
So what does this story prove? It proves that anything is possible. Just like Tom, the only thing that is standing in your way of achieving success is your beliefs about what is possible in your attitude towards yourself and your desire to achieve what you really want. You are the only barrier that is keeping your dreams at bay.
THIS WEEK'S ACTION STEP
Here is this week’s personal exercise:
Your mind will determine your success or your failure. Your mind is your ultimate strength and also your ultimate weakness. Everything begins and ends with your thinking.
Here is six ways to develop your mental muscles and once practiced they can give you the power to accomplish your goals.
Read, read, and read some more— you should read something besides magazines or your daily newspaper. They’re mostly filled with negative images and information that will not serve you or any purpose for you to reach her goals. These types of th publications you read has information that creeps into your brain and mind and will fester negatively. You should be reading books that motivate and inspire you.
Mastermind-I suggest you join a mastermind group or share your mind with someone that is moving in the same positive direction that you are. Two or more minds that concentrate on the same goal is an extraordinary powerful force.
Seek out a coach or mentor— I recommend that you get mentors or a coach in each area of your life for your entire life. You should keep having your mentors challenge you every single day.
Listen to audio’s— one of the most important habits you can create for yourself is to listen to audio’s. You should continually listen to motivational audios and listen to them until you can practically repeat them verbatim. This process will help recondition your mind to think only of abundance, prosperity and positivity.
Attend lectures and seminars— to help you reinforce a positive way of life, sign up and attend motivational seminars and lectures. There you should be able to meet inspirational people and possible mastermind members and learn new ways of achieving your goals.
Turn off the TV— on average the television in the average American home is on over 7.2 hours per day. Just like any bad habit it needs to be broken. The television is filled with energy that is put out into the room and it becomes its own entity.
