Week 16 Stepping into Greatness Lesson

Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can do!

To start moving forward in your life you must start to move from where you currently are. Do not get stuck in the past but accept where you currently are. The past is dead and gone and there is nothing you can do about it so leave it in the past and let it go.

Do not wish you had more than you have already because you can use what you already have. Every single person has specific, natural talents, in this world. Start to use what you already have and don’t concern yourself on what you don’t have.

Do what you can do now! A lot of people wait until the perfect time or that they can learn more things first before they even get started. You can learn as you go but do what you can do now to get the ball rolling.

Mozart was an absolute brilliant man and was born with an awesome God-given talent. By the age of five he was composing and performing for royalty. Mozart realized at an early age what his talents were and he continued to practice and hone what he was born to do. He used his natural abilities to create the most amazing pieces of music in history.

Now he wasn’t the first to be born with these kinds of natural talents and he certainly wasn’t the last. Each and every one of us has natural talent-all of us. We need to discover what these talents are and then use these talents to the best of our abilities. You have been given amazing gifts and talents that are absolutely meant to be shared with the world.

It is your job to find out what those talents are and then to master them. If you spend your time and energy and your focus on your natural talents you will then find that you will reap phenomenal rewards.

You would think that celebrating your natural talents should be easy. For many people they find it emotionally exhausting and that is because a lot of people fight their natural talents for a number of reasons.

Maybe it was because their parents didn’t approve of their artistic ability to paint or to sculpt, because they wanted their child to go into a different profession. It could be that someone’s natural talent didn’t seem to have the ability to bring in the kind of wealth they desire. It could be that they simply had fear to pursue something that seems to come easily to them and their mindset was that success should be difficult.

Success should not be difficult and it really isn’t.

All of these are just excuses and all of these excuses will not destroy natural talent. Natural talent will always be there waiting for you to fight through your fear and not “what else” until you realize what you should have been doing your entire life.

You have been given natural talents for a reason and that is to use them for the betterment of the world and those who live in it.

Have you ever taken notice that when you are doing an activity in which you are naturally talented that you feel excited and energized? That is a definite sign that those are the things you should be focusing your energy on.

As an example when I do workshops in front of hundreds of people teaching them about how to fulfill their dreams I am filled with energy and excitement that sometimes I have to intentionally slow myself down to make sure people are getting what I’m teaching them.

Start to focus your thoughts and become aware to find out what makes you excited and energized and then begin to perfect that. You should discover your brilliance in life and then you need to practice, practice, practice.

Hone your abilities to perfect them and concentrate on your strengths and not your weaknesses. Just take a look at the world’s greatest athletes. They practiced over and over again at what they were naturally good at and what they love to do every single day.

You did not see Michael Jordan sitting around trying to dissect a strand of DNA.  If that was something he would be talented at that’s what he would be doing. But it was not. He is an absolute brilliant athlete and businessman. He stuck to what he does best and now is reaped astounding rewards because of it.

There are only two steps to success and that is to discover your brilliance and then to perfect it. Doing this will allow you to receive the wealth you truly deserve.

In this week’s action step I would like to offer an exercise just to complete in the week ahead:

I would like you to write down and differentiate between your strengths and your weaknesses. List each in a separate column then forget about your weaknesses and cross them out and concentrate on your strengths.

Business coach Dan Sullivan once said, “if you spend too much time working on your weaknesses, all you end up with is a lot of strong weaknesses.”

To make crystal clear you understand the difference between your strengths and weaknesses, I would like you to take out a journal or notepad and pen and ask yourself a few questions.

What are some activities that you excel at without putting forth much effort, study or preparation? What do you do so well that most people find it difficult to do? What is it that you can do that people are amazed at and make those “wow” comments about you?

If you did not have to concern yourself about money or earning money and you had all the money you could ever spend and that money would not be a concern what would you do as a career or a hobby?

You may now have a list of 5 to 10 activities with answering those questions. What I would like for you to do now on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being what you are most talented at, rank your activities that you wrote down. Your biggest rewards will come from spending the majority of your energy and time focusing on honing your talents in the activities that you of rank seven and higher.

Once you have ranked your top activities, you should have five or fewer, choose the one that you love to do the most and then start practicing. You want to continue honing this talent on a daily basis. For example, if you paint then set aside time every single day to do some painting. This could be 15 minutes on up. If you love to golf, go golfing daily even if it’s in your own backyard. If you love to write then decide if you want to write a screenplay or a novel and then decide how many pages are seems that you will write each day and then just do it.

You have been given unique talents that no one else has and that no one else can do things quite the way that you can. When you use these talents and perfect them you are celebrating your life on being alive and giving thanks to the universe who bestowed them upon you.

You become what you affirm so affirm your greatness, your genius and your fullest potential. You can live an extraordinary life.

Remember, Life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself. It is time to create the best life possible!

Until next week
