Week 17 Stepping into Greatness Lesson

Make your mark by plussing your unique talents!

unique talent

Every single one of us has a unique talent that will make us different from everyone else and can stand out in the crowd. There are some people with the ability to sing yet no one else does it that exact same way. Think of all the singers throughout history such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Dean Martin, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, and the list goes on and on. They were all unique in their own way.

Other people were brilliant painters yet each had their own flair with the brush that allows them to create their individual masterpieces. There are also a ton of motivational speakers out there but each has their own philosophy and how to help people achieve their goals in life.

If you have already discovered what your talent is then you should hone it and craft it, build on it and nourish it as this is your “niche talent” that will give you the best chance to take you to the top of your field.

If you do what you were meant to do it will create fun and excitement in your life as well as contentment and satisfaction and will also affect the lives of the people around you. Have you ever been around someone that is excited about something? If you have you probably noticed that their excitement is contagious. Maybe you have already been following your path that you were meant to walk and if so that’s fantastic! Not everyone acts on doing what they were meant to do.

There are times that even if you know it’s the path you’re supposed to take and that you’re supposed to travel on, it can start to lose some of its excitement and shine for you. If that is the case here is an idea for you.

The great singer Tony Bennett a few years ago was performing in Las Vegas to the older crowds. His manager, which is also his son, had this idea to put his dad on MTV. Tony thought about it a little bit as he was very skeptical of it but in the end he agreed. Neither one of them had any idea what was to follow.

This one innovative idea absolutely exploded into Tony’s renewed career. He became one of the hottest and most sought after talents on MTV and VH1. He once again topped the charts and his CDs were hard to keep in stock.

He started performing to sellout crowds at his concerts and not only was drawing grandmothers and grandfathers but also they were accompanied by their grandkids that were now converted Tony Bennett fans.

Tony and his son plussed his career by simply exposing his talents to a new generation and all it took was one creative idea. If Tony can do that then you can do it to.

Last week we talked about your natural talents and how to find them. Once you find them you need to start placing them and upleveling them. By up leveling and placing your talents you can create or even re-create a career or life that you didn’t even think is possible anymore.

Here is this week’s personal exercise:

So how can you up level and plus your natural talents so you will be able to create the life that you want? First thing is to know what your unique talents and gifts are. If you haven’t done so from the previous week write them down now in a journal or in a notebook.

You may already be working in the area that you are naturally talented in. If not, the chances are you already know what you should really be doing so write that down.

The next thing is that I would like you to up level and plus it. So what do I mean by that?

As an example, let’s say that you have a lot of stories rolling around in your head and deep down you know you should be publishing these but that you don’t know where to start. So your natural talent is: I write a series of short stories.

If you were to up level and plus that you would write something like this: I have a book of short stories that is a huge bestseller all over the world. So what kind of action steps will you take to make it a huge bestseller?

Then up level and plus it again: each of these short stories has been picked up and put in audio format for the Internet audience or a radio program. Again, what action steps will you take to make this happen?

I used being a writer as an example but just insert whatever your natural talent is. Now that you know what you’re going for, it’s time to create action steps to make each of the statements come true. How many action steps will it take to get from your stories in your head to being published?

Do some Internet research on how to get published then write them down and then do the same thing for the upper levels in plusses that you’ve written down.

When you start to do this you will learn a lot about yourself and your chosen field and the power a focused mind truly has.

Remember, Life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself. It is time to create the best life possible!

Until next week
