Week 23 Stepping into Greatness Lesson

Achieve Your Unique Goals

Have you ever wondered how successful people make a decision what their unique goals that they want to accomplish are? Just how was that they know exactly what they want? How do they decide between what others want them to do, what society tells them what they should do and what do they really want to do with their own lives?

It is my belief that everything you need to know about your passions and your true calling in life is within you right now. Learn how to recognize this information and then use it to accomplish your purpose on this earth.

I want you to think about something. Whenever someone makes a comment such as, “this is the most breathtaking sunset I have ever seen” or “isn't the ocean so beautiful” do you find yourself robotically agreeing with them without really consciously thinking about what they just said? This is a very common practice for most people.

If you really stop and think about it what if you discover that you prefer the view of the mountains to ocean views or I would rather watch the sunrise rather than the sunset? Your opinions are your own and they only belong to you. You should never allow others to tell you what you think, who you are or what you should be doing with your life.

In the process of raising and nurturing their children parents will instill in their children a certain expectation that stems from their own unfulfilled desires. Stop and think about how many adults that you know became a doctor or a lawyer because their parents wanted them to or expected them to? Did a friend of yours go into their family business because that is what was expected of them?

Now if you have a desire to be what your parents or family or friends want you to be then that’s one thing but if your true passion has nothing to do with the family business or going to medical school than it is your responsibility to follow your passion in your heart.

I’ve had some people asked me if this is being selfish. Well, it absolutely is but it is your duty to accomplish your mission on this earth. People will be upset with you that you are not doing what they want you to do so except that. Do not be swayed by those people who do not have the courage to follow their own dreams. You are only responsible for your own happiness and no one else’s. You were put on this earth for a reason and you should be doing the work you were born to do.

Here is this week’s personal exercise:

I would like to help you discover why you are here and what is it that you need to do on this earth. This is a very simple exercise that requires you to pay close attention to yourself and also the world around you. The only thing you have to do is to ask yourself these questions every day, several times a day, for the next week.

  1. What am I passionate about? To help answer this question start by looking at your hobbies, interests, charity work, etc.

  2. If you had all the money that you could spend over the course of 10 lifetimes what would you do for free? Would you help the elderly, volunteer more at the local hospital or read to sick kids, build furniture, study medicine, etc.

  3. who are your mentors, your role models, the people that you admire most? What have these people accomplished that earns my respect for them so much? Are they currently doing or have done what I would love to do?

As you ask yourself these questions over the course of the next week the answers will present themselves to you. Answering these questions will help you define what you are passionate about and what your talents are and what you want to do and were meant to do with your life and the person that you want to become.

Remember, Life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself. It is time to create the best life possible!

Until next week
